What does an ONT box do?

An ONT is an Optical Network Terminal. This device connects the fibre that has been wired the outside of your house, to your modem.

You know me, I'm a dummy when it comes to these things, I don't know what it's supposed to do..

Think of it as a converter. It converts the fibre signal to something your modem can use.

Basically, the same thing your cable box does. It converts the signal to something your television can understand.
