I guess at least they can chat, and get a code or two in the same place.. :( I should join up on his site really, no doubt he's converted a number of your old Zeta themes now..

Let's face it... ever since ZetaBoards bit the dust in the cruelest way possible, part of the Internet is now dead. Forums will never be the same again.

Also, why do people care about Jcink so much? It's 2019, and it feels that it's stuck in time when John can't be bothered updating its HTML structure and what not. That's why I don't care for it anymore and even killed my forum because of it (I requested for it to be removed from NexAds recently, to reflect the change). Also that I don't care for forums as I used to.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.. Considering JCink like most other forum sites is free for us mere mortals, as was zetaboards, they have the right to set things up the way they think is best, and know.. No forum software's perfect, but Jcink does a reasonable job, at least as good as zetaboards, it just takes time to figure out..

Well personally, I'm done with it. It had pissed me off so much, and it even made me lose motivation of running my forum completely.

But at least I had a Discord back up so that my members don't feel displaced.
With forum software being free to use I doubt any will be perfect, some may be better than others though.. The problem is, we get used to one software, zetaboards for example and like it because we know how to use it, then when they go under and we change to somewhere else mothings ever quite as good..
I think people are afraid of change really, i mean Jcink is easy to use
I wasn't going to reply, but feel compelled to do so . . . I recommend that an individual take control of their internet presence and get paid hosting.  This way they control the software that is presented when a visitor visits their domain.

Want MyBB . . . install it. Want WordPress, yep you can do that too.

Best part, you have complete control of the back end, server side.  Only limitations you have is what you can do.  Otherwise, you can modified (and destroy :D ) your own site as you decide!

The biggest advantage that I see of a free provider, like Jcink, is you are not out any money. Second advantage is you are not alone, there are other people there to network with; i.e. potential site users/members.

I love having control of my databases and files.  The ability to modify a site as I see fit is amazing.

Sure, you can modify a site alot with javascript/jquery, but then you are dependent upon the end-users browser to "make the magic happen".  With server access, you can do a lot of the action on the server itself.

You should see the code that makes up NexAds!  There is a lot of php/mysql database interaction happening!  Yes, we use javascript also, but the majority of the "magic" is unseen, server side.

Anyway, to summarize, I recommend everyone take charge of their internet presence and not rely on some guy from Rolla, Missouri, **  to provide you with server space and a software to run on it!

** = that's John Cuppi, owner of Jcink
Count me out of hosting my own software, I'm not tech minded enough to get tings anywhere near the way I'd like it, so if I took MyBB it'd stay pretty much as is if I got it hosted, at my old age I doubt I'll ever be tech minded enough especially with the pace at which things change, which is fairly quickly..
Too funny . . .
