You? So are we!
It is too crazy. I have to stay busy and keep away from the news to retain sanity.
Not unexpected, unfortunately.  We've been having a lot of chatter about it in our Politics forum for months.

As with all the things that happen in D.C., it's got a local component for us.  It's a thirty minute or so drive away.  My daughter lives in D.C., in the Shaw neighborhood...so nowhere near what's happening.  She was on the roof of her apartment about twenty minutes before the attack began and said there was no traffic within 3 blocks of P Street in any direction, which she'd never seen before.

This sort of sums up the year 2020 for me; a year of sights I've never witnessed before. I'm so so hoping 2021 isn't gonna be one of those years.

I'm craving normalcy so bad.
@Atlantic, I saw a post on your forum about integrating your phpBB forum with WordPress blogging software.

It's actually not hard to do.

If you aren't a serious coder, then here's a WordPress plugin that may be assistive in you achieving what you desire:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-w3all-p...tegration/

Note, I am not affiliated with that plugin, phpBB or WordPress. I'm just a wanna-be coder that knows a little bit about everything but not a lot about one thing :)
*bops Archer with the helpful stick* Stop that! It's too helpful. :D
It is very helpful, and thank you!

As you might have guessed, I'm not a coder; my expertise lies in networks.  I'm used to connecting these servers and getting them talking, but beyond knowing what port that's on, I don't have a good idea what's happening under the hood.

I'll look into that plug-in and see what happens.  I'm not a fan of WordPress's UI, but if it makes it that easy to install what I need (status updates and blog entries), then I might have to reconsider.

As an aside, I've installed GNU Social and can publish it through phpBB (ATOM feed); however, my forum users were not interested until I managed a single sign-on.  I'm pretty sure there is a way - actually, I know of that way, if I was not on a hosted server and had access to root - but was still in the process of researching that.

Even after installing WP, if that ends up being the solution here, I might want to keep GNU Social (or transition to Mastodon) and federate it.  Possibilities abound!

Thanks for visiting the forum, btw, and you're welcome to register an account whenever you'd like.

I'm not even certain what that might look like.   :)

I think that perhaps one of the keys to navigating difficult times is to have a source of peace and stability within yourself.  Things will keep changing on the outside, but one can control one's own reactions.

Of course, even my own life isn't fully in control (far from it), but I choose to concentrate on things that are going right, and that helps a lot.
I really like how you wrote that. ^_^ Very good thought.

Just stopping by to wave hello! I'm enjoying an evening coffee right now, and might open up the hood for Nexus to poke around. :) Hope everyone else is doing well.
Morning.

Really red sky this morning. Hard frost and freezing...
