Tips on navigating the new forum style

Since this our previous subscribers were used to another system, I thought I'd put a few notes here on some ways to make yourself at home.  I'll add as I think of things.

First, if you don't like the horizontal profile in the posts, you can change that to the mini-profile on the left layout in your User CP under Profile >  Edit Options.

MyBB is different from ZetaBoards in the way it handles directing your topic links. Clicking the topic link on the forum page takes you to the first post in the thread.

If you wish to got to the first UNREAD post, use the green arrow icon preceding the topic title in forum view. Or, if on the index, click the topic name in the right column.

What's this 'Linear" and "threaded" modes I just found?

Try them. One is the topic style you are used to from ZetaBoards (first full post followed by full replies).

The other is like the old yahoo groups where you have an outline of the topic: the topic titles with the starting words of each reply below. You have to click each one to read it.

Hmmm, I may well try it and see, I suspect I may prefer the zeta style so better give the other a decent try out period..
