Beware of email phishing scam with subject: "Be sure to read this message! Your personal data is threatened!"
Recently, multiple users have notified me of receiving an email with the following subject:
"Be sure to read this message! Your personal data is threatened!“
This is the typical email phishing scam.
The email message's wording varies to some extent but the email looks something like this:
In many cases, the email appears to be sent from a user's email address.
This is known as “email spoofing” i.e. the practice of creating email messages with a fake sender’s address.
If you’ve received an email message like this, you should take the following steps to keep yourself safe:
- Do not click on any links in the email
- Do not reply to the message
- Do not pay the requested ransom
- Mark the email as junk (SPAM mail)
- Change your account passwords
- Scan your computer for malware

Good on you for alerting us, a lot of folk would think these are for real and open them and click on any links in them.. I personally don't open or read mail if I don't know the sender, or I'm suspicious of it, I know a number of people who have and they've ended up in all sorts of bother.. If in doubt, delete I say..

Yes, delete is the best policy.

I do the same with emails offering something for nothing, I figure if something sounds to good to be true, it probably is, especially if it's from an unknown source..

I hate the spoofing ones where you think someone you know is writing to you and its some stupid attempt to get you to click a link.

I notice I have a lot of new friends on Facebook, none got friend requests from me, or sent a friend request to me, yet I get the odd spoofing email or do this and you'll win that email from them, little wonder I rarely go on Facebook these days, possibly once every year to 18 months I go on there very briefly, I haven't posted in over 4 years on Facebook, I'm thinking of deleting my account there seeing my family and friends now email me..
