The good news is we'll be dropping to level 3 on 27 April, that means a lot of the businesses that are currently closed will be allowed to reopen.. The downside? We won't be able to hhave ANZAC Day services on 25 April, it'll be the first time since WW1 our fallen soldiers haven''t had a dawn service, no poppy day sale either of course, I hope our RSA can arrange some kind of online service for our soldiers..

Everyone seems to be rushing to open businesses. Sure hope we don't get a reflash of cases.

I think people should be trusted to make good decisions about their own safety. I have big problems with the government overstepping their authority in order to enforce their idea of public safety.

Business owners are smart, adaptable people. Instead of muzzling them, I would have like to have seen governors let them come up with ways they could operate safely until the danger is passed. If grocery stores, delivery services and home improvement stores can do it, so can others. Even restaurants would figure it out. Although it seems odd to have to eat from behind a mask. ^_^

Those "essential" businesses never stopped operating. They adjusted to changing information. And the spikes have leveled off while all that was happening. I think if people were unleashed, we'd see some amazing creativity in developing adaptations that include the safety guidelines.

In our case we had 1,440 cases od Covid 19 here to date, over 900 have recovered and as of 1.00 p.m. yesterday we only had 8 new and probable cases so the government is IMO right in thinking it's okay if more vusinesses reopen as long as they can ensure that staff and customers are able to keep a safe distance apart, if that means limiting how many are inside at any one time then so be it, better they're open and trading rather than laying off staff because they can't afford to pay them.. Most folk are pretty responsible here so there shouldnt be any problems as long as business owners act responsibly.., they've got to be given the chance sooner or later, better sooner before it costs the country to much more in lost revenue,,

We've had 13 deaths to date compared to over 41,000 in the US, mainly because our government acted quickly, so we're in a far better position to slowly reopen businesses and keep the level 4 lockdown rules in place..

After a day of rain, yuck, today is a beautiful day. Doing hedge trimming and getting some vitamin D!

RE: RANDOM comments - Sandy - 04-23-2020

3 more daus and we'll be dropping from level 4 to 3, things starting to return to normal here.. :)

RE: RANDOM comments - Sandy - 04-24-2020

I've just been reading the news online and was shocked to see there's been over 50,000 deaths due to the Covid 19 in the US to date, scary numbers there at present, I wonder if the Presidents calling the Covid a hoax has made things worse? I notice people have been protesting at being forced into lockdown too, I'd have happily gone into lockdown before the death toll hit 1000..

Just to set the record straight, he didn't call it a hoax. He called the opposition party's efforts to use it for political advantage a hoax. Lots of wrong "news" reports out there.

My bad there then, there seems to have been a lot of deaths from Covid 19 there, why didn't he, senate and congress act a lot sooner to try and avoid so many deaths? IMO a lot could've been avoided if there'd been some early decisive action..
