IF the people coming over the border can obtain various things like hunting and fishing permits or health care, then there must be some US citizens supplying them with the necessary paperwork to do it, whether the paperwork is legal or dodgy is another matter, I rather suspect it's fake paperwork..
Te fact remains the majority of people going over the Mexico/US border are Mexicans who can't get work in Mexico, so go over the border to work illegally..
Immigrants are a seperate issue IMO, they may have left places like Syria or Afghanistan to escape the wars there, if they're taken in by the border patrol or who ever mans the ships picking them up, isn't the US then morally and ethically obligated to give them a certain standard of health care and feed them until such stage as they're homed somewhere, or given citizenship so they can start working?

That's what our immigration is about. If you are requesting asylum due to fear of returning to your country, you can be allowed entry to the U.S. and go through the immigration process.
If you feel you must cut a fence, dig a tunnel or swim the river to gain illegal entry, then you should not be allowed entry.
That's what "wall" is supposed to stop, the
illegal aliens trying to gain
illegal entry into the country.

Welp, over 800,000 workers are either at home worrying about their next paycheck, or working for nothing and waiting on the next paycheck.
Here's a bit of history for you.
In a phone call to FOX News in 2013, the last time we had a government shutdown, it was Donald Trump who said the responsibility comes from the top. Five years later, he meets with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, declares that he would shut down the government in the name of border security and he would be proud to do it. Days later, he tweets "The Democrats now own the shutdown." Uh, responsibility comes from where? SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY!
Today's issue. Trump has said throughout his candidacy that Mexico was going to pay for the wall. In his rallies, he's had his base cheer the same thing. Today, he says he never meant that they would pay for it directly. Really now?
SAY WHAT YOU MEAN
MEAN WHAT YOU SAY!

I bet Trump wouldn't have wanted a fence or wall between the US and Mexico when all the Mexicans were working on his building sites illegally, and for well under the minimum wage..
IMHO which ever way you cut it, having a government shutdown over christmas because he wants around $6 billion for a barrier between the US and Mexico is pretty harsh on the 800,000 plus government workers who aren't getting paid, and haven't been for 3 weeks now, few of them have rich fathers they can go to and get money to pay the mortgage or feed and clothe their children, that was how Trump started out in the business world, rich daddy gives a dodgy loan worth millions, as a result he doesn't know what it's like to live from paycheck to paycheck like all the government workers..
IMO Trump will lose both popularity and votes over this, 800,00 workers will be getting annoyed at least because they aren't getting paid and no return to work date in the forseeable future, then there's all the extended families and friends of those workers seeing those folk going without.. I have to wonder how long it'll be before either anti Trump, or anti wall people will start protesting and saying get the government staff back to work..
I note in the news to that there's been a number of deaths in the national parks since the shutdown, I wonder how many more are needed before someone says enough, either pay the staff and get them working, or close all national parks for safety sake, preferably get the workers back to work..
Outlaw, I notice Trump walked out of his meeting with Pelosi and whoever the other day because he didn't get what he wanted, IMO it's his job to try and negotiate a settlement rather than throw a tanty and walk out, by acting the way he is, he is in my opinion showing he doesn't vare if the 800,000 plus government workers get paid or not..
I also don't think calling a national emergency and taking money from the military budget for a wall is a good idea, it has to be replaced some how, I wonder how many Trump supporters would support tax increases to give back the military funding?

I see some of the 800,000 plus government workers are no selling personal posessions online, in a lot of cases for a tenth of their cost so they have a little money to pay the bills, it seems others are either getting benefits or registering with employment companies so they can get new jobs..
There was also a story here yesterday about a wheat farmer who was supposed to be getting an annual $15,000 payment for wheat seed from the government, buy because of the shutdown he, and farmers like him aren't getting that payment, it seems the shutdown is slowly having a trickle down affect, I wonder who's affected next?

When Ronald Reagan was President, he had this notion, that if he could get between 70-80% of what he wanted, he could try to get the rest later. Trump wants it all, or... well... you see the end result. Then on top of it, according you-know-who, this shut down is the Democrats fault, long after he said that (A) he would take the mantle and (B) he would not blame Democrats for it.
